The Russia Profile Special Report is a quarterly publication that consists of a collection of articles by different staff and freelance authors dedicated to a specific central theme of the editors' choosing. Stories found in our Special Reports are the best-researched, most profound and comprehensive analytical pieces available at RussiaProfile.Org.
The Special Reports are an indispensible tool for any Russia watcher or researcher interested in taking a closer look at the pressing issues that affect the modern Russian society. The reports are a derivative of the print version of our monthly magazine that is no longer published on paper, but is available in various digital formats for the convenience of our readers.
We welcome all feedback and suggestions from our readers, so if there is a specific topic you would like Russia Profile to take a closer look at, please let us know!

Dear Russia Profile readers,
As of Wednesday, July 25, Russia Profile as a project is fully merging with the editorial team of RIA Novosti’s English-language Web site. This decision by RIA Novosti management is part of a greater rearrangement of the company’s English-language resources. From now on, Russia Profile journalists will join our colleagues at the main English desk, whose editors assume full responsibility for possible future transformations of the brand. I am also staying with RIA Novosti, with a new and interesting project to work on.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the Russia Profile team over the course of more than eight years, all Russia Profile contributors and, above all, our loyal readers. It was your insightful feedback that kept us running for such a long time, knowing that we were at times useful to the community of Russia scholars and researchers around the world.
The Russia Profile International Advisory Board has helped us maintain direction, and we remain grateful to this exquisite group of Russia experts.
My special thanks go to RIA Novosti management, and namely the Chief Editor Svetlana Mironyuk, who had launched Russia Profile back in 2003 and who has supported it, against many odds, through all these years. Throughout this period, Russia Profile has remained an absolutely free platform for reports and analysis on Russia, including criticism – something many people had not believed would be possible when we launched. Today RIA Novosti’s main English-language service works to the same standards and its quality of reporting and readership are growing noticeably, thus making RP’s full integration the logical next step.
Russia Profile’s archive for the full period of its existence will remain online and available to all users. To make it easer, we have removed the registration requirement. We hope our legacy will remain useful to Russia researchers and all interested readers for years to come.
Yours gratefully,
Andrei Zolotov, Jr.
Founding editor, Russia Profile
Deputy director, RIA Novosti International Service

Hoping Russia profile by merging with Novosti will not be controlled by US or UK financiers as most Russian media now show more American US news than Russian or CIS countries news___ as if there is no Russian made movies, moviestar, sportstar, fashionstar, entrepreneurs.
