The new U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul got off to a rocky start on his second day on the job by hosting a meeting with Russian opposition leaders at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow (actually, the meeting was set up for the visiting Undersecretary of State Bill Burns, while Ambassador McFaul played the host according to the diplomatic protocol). Is the United States looming large in Russia’s presidential elections? How serious is the “U.S. factor” in influencing Russian voters’ preferences? Is Putin’s tactic of whipping up anti-American hysteria actually paying off for his presidential campaign? Is there, or will there be a “Russian factor” in the U.S. presidential race?

Country is great. We are great. So why is that we get bludgeoned in Baghdad, butchered in Sudan abd bombed (over) in Afghanistan?
Why is nobody counting the money, man power, strategy-talking and blunderbuss of an American diplomacy no more?
Just a day ago, in tears or what appeared to be painful body language, Leon Panetta paraded in fron of (carefully selected) media persons and their cameras, under the glaring lights and declared the administration's (firm) resolve to back off from Afghan (war) theater.
I did not hear any applause. On the contrary, the usual and customary rednecks and skinheads thrust themselves to warn Barack Obama of inevitable consequences.
Such as? Total destruction of America by the Taliban, (my words).
Oh Yeah? really-really? Duh. Just look around bozos. America has been destroyed. Total decimation. No man, woman, tree or covered Malls or not covered strip malls getting traffic.
