Geography:  The Jewish Autonomous Region is located in the Trans-Amur territory of the Russian Far East. It borders on China in the south and west, Amur Region in the northwest, and Khabarovsk Territory in the north, northeast, and east. The Amur River flows through the territory

Economy: Because of good soil and a moderate climate, agriculture is the main economic sector in the Jewish Autonomous Region.  The area also has large mineral deposits and some industry is involved in processing them.
