Vasily Yakemenko (Василий Григорьевич Якеменко) was born May 27, 1971 in Lyubertsy, Moscow Region. Active in youth groups linked to the Kremlin for many years, since 2008 he has served as director of Russia’s Federal Agency for Youth Issues (Rosmolodezh).
From 1989 to 1991 Yakemenko served in the army before graduating from the economics faculty of Moscow State Social University in 2002. In the 1990s he worked in business and was financial director of several construction companies. In 2000 he joined the presidential administration, and later the same year founded youth group Walking Together (Идущие вместе). In April 2005 he founded youth group Nashi (Наши). He is currently head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).
Yakemenko is married and has two children.
